Available Male Kai Ken Puppy Friday, October 4th, 2013

It’s very very rare that we have a homeless puppy, our puppies are always born with a home waiting for them. That was the case with our two current litters too.

However one of the male puppies from our current litters has come available due to his future home deciding to wait for our next litter, due later this year from Akashi and Nori.

We’ve not yet matched the puppies from this litter with homes, so the available male puppy could come from either the Ayu x Kibou litter (4 weeks old now) or the Haru x Kibou litter (2 weeks old now).

Litter at Suteishii Kennels sired by Yamabsuhi’s “Akashi” Sunday, October 28th, 2012

Suteishii Kennels PuppiesFrom time to time, Yamabushi Kennel will partner with cooperative Kai Ken breeders in North America in an effort to increase the Kai Ken’s population diversity outside of Japan.

It is in the spirit of that type of cooperation that we are pleased and excited to announce that our male Kai Ken “Akashi” (Japanese import) has sired a litter at Suteishii Kennels in Ohio.

We’re happy to share with you some pics from Suteishii Kennels‘ litter. This beautiful litter, of 3 girls and 1 boy, was born on September 14th.

For more information on the availability of these puppies please contact Stacey Pestel via the Suteishii Kennels FaceBook page: www.facebook.com/SuteishiiKennels

Akashi’s and Kumi’s relatives working boar and kamoshika in Japan Friday, May 11th, 2012

Below are some videos of Akashi’s and Kumi’s relatives, from Tenro Kensha, working boar and kamoshika in Japan. Note the aggressive terrain Kai Ken must negotiate in order to hunt the kamoshika – a quarry the Kai Ken has hunted since long before the formation of the Kai Ken Aigokai (甲斐犬愛護会).

I think Okabe-san’s dogs show a lot of promise in that boar test! Unfortunately, good boar hunting Kai Ken are hard to come by, even in Japan. So it’s a real honor to have some of his bloodlines in our preservation efforts.
